A 26-year-old Grand Island man faces a felony charge after he told staff at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital he was carrying multiple bombs.

Scott Zientek was visiting a patient in the hospital’s emergency room Wednesday morning when he said he had “a few bombs and some poison” in a pink-wrapped gift box, according to Lewiston Police Chief Ron Winkley.

Hospital staff called emergency responders at 10:21 a.m. and began evacuation and lockdown procedures.

Zientek could not immediately be located after he made his initial comment about possessing the bombs.

Minutes later, he returned from visiting a friend in the emergency room and told police he was kidding about what was inside the gift box he had left in the waiting room.
