•CAYUGA 12-U SOFTBALL: The Cayuga Gamblers 12u Travel Softball Team has openings for a couple of girls born in 1996 or 1997, who are looking to play competitive travel softball. The team will be participating in about five tournaments, and also in league play. Interested players should contact 471-4711 for more information and to schedule a tryout.

•CAYUGA HEAT: The Cayuga Heat, a 12 and under travel baseball team, is looking for catchers and pitchers to join the squad for the summer season. The team is currently practicing and interested players should call at 830-9743 for more details. The Heat have been invited to a tournament at Cooperstown Dreams Park in August.

•LEW-PORT YOUTH: Lewiston-Porter Youth Baseball and Softball is now accepting registrations Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Lewiston Town Hall, 1375 Ridge Road. •NIAGARA FRONTIER SOFTBALL LEAGUE: The Niagara Frontier Softball League is looking for teams for its 2009 season at Resevoir Park. Leagues are forming for men’s, women’s and co-ed teams. •TOWN OF CAMBRIA: Baseball and softball applications for boys and girls ages 5-17 are being accepted with no late fee. All documents are available in the Town Clerk’s office located at 4160 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, or online at www.townofcambria.com. Umpires age 14 and up are also being sought. •WHIRLPOOL PARK SCHOLARSHIP: Whirlpool Park Little League and Whirlpool Park Athletic Association are offering college scholarships to boys and girls who will be 2009 high school graduates and participated in the baseball or softball program for five or more years. •CHIEF WILLIAMS MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT: The 4th annual PAL/Mark “Chief” Williams Memorial Basketball Tournament will be held April 17, 18 and 19 at Niagara University, Niagara Falls High School and Niagara Catholic High School. Ninety teams from New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio and Ontario are expected to participate. Openings stil exist in boys and girls divisions, grades 5-6, 7, 8, 9-10, and 11-12. •GARY HILL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: The Grand Niagara Hockey Organization issues the Gary Hill Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors who exhibit evidence of dedication to Grand Niagara Hockey, extracurricular activities, humanitarianism, and academic achievement. The scholarship is named in honor of coach Gary Hill, a friend and mentor to many young aspiring hockey players. Scholarship forms will be placed in school guidance offices and at Dwyer Arena. •LEWISTON KIWANIS/SERVICE GUILD YOUTH ONE MILE: The Village of Lewiston Recreation Department will hold its annual Lewiston Kiwanis and Lewiston Service Guild one-mile race for youth at 12:30 p.m. on April 26 starting at the Onondaga Street entrance of the Lewiston Red Brick Gym. Registration will begin at 11:45 a.m. and forms need a parents signature. Those 14 and under are eligible and parents can run with their children. Swimming

•NIAGARA UNIVERSITY INSTRUCTIONAL LESSONS: Niagara University’s Recreation Department is taking registrations for instructional swim lessons available to children of all ages and skill levels. Classes begin on Wednesdays starting May 6 at 4:30, 5:15 and 6:40 p.m. Classes will also be held on Saturdays beginning June 6 at 11 and 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Cost for the program is $60 for the five-week session. A $5 discount will be taken off for every additional child that is enrolled. For more information, call the Kiernan Center at 286-8055.
