Yet another jam-packed card of mixed martial arts should have the Seneca Niagara Casino jumping on Saturday as the Mayhem in the Mist series continues with Raging Wolf XI.
Jonathan Brookins, the winner of The Ultimate Fighter Season 12, will make a special appearance at the event, which starts at 6 p.m.
The evening’s main event will be for the Raging Wolf welterweight title as a previously postponed match between current champion Nuri Shakir and Tom “The Tank” Egan will take place.
“This caliber fight I have been fighting for a while so to me it's just another tough fight,” Shakir said. “I’ve been watching him and he is more of a typical Irish, hard-nose boxer with some grappling. He is tough, but so am I, and I see someone getting knocked out. Keeping this belt motivates me.”
Meanwhile, Egan, an Irish native, found himself in the UFC’s Octagon at the age of 19, with just two years of professional MMA experience. After a setback, his comeback road starts fighting for Raging Wolf’s welterweight title.
“Winning this title brings me back to the forefront of welterweights on the East Coast,” Eagan said. “Raging Wolf is the premier MMA promotion from Maine to Florida ... and a ton of people are going to watch me defeat Nuri Shakir and win my first title. Becoming the Raging Wolf Welterweight Champion is a major, major step toward securing my seat at the UFC table once again.”
Other bouts include Luigi Fioravanti facing off against Mike Guerin, and TJ Sumler battling Chris Robinson.
Weigh-ins for the fighters will take place today at 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Seneca Niagara Casino. The event is free, and fans in attendance can get their pictures taken with fighters, the Raging Wolf Ring Girls, and the Hey Hey Knockout Girls.
