A four-run third inning fueled by five walks and a hit batter led the host Allegany Nitros to a 7-4 victory over the Niagara Power on Saturday night in a New York Collegiate Baseball League game.

Ian Pool picked up the win for the Nitros, pitching seven innings of two-hit ball. He allowed one earned run and struck out eight.

Niagara trailed 7-1 heading into the ninth inning before starting a rally. After three walks and two errors, the Power had cut the lead to 7-3. Joel Blomberg, who had two of Niagara’s three hits on the night, followed with an RBI single to make it 7-4 with just one out.

The Nitros were able to hang on, though, as Ryan Jacobi hit into a fielder’s choice and Trent Thompson flied out to end the game.

Allegany improved to 11-3, good for first place in the NYCBL East Division. Niagara dropped to 9-5 and is in second.

The Power return to the field at 7 p.m. today when they host Webster at Sal Maglie Stadium.
