They’ll be dancing in the street again in Youngstown June 20, at the 10th Summer Street Dance and Classic Car Cruise.

The event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. on Main Street with the Carl Motyka Band, which has played at the celebration every year.

“Children and adults love this band because they play current songs to dance to as well as bring the little ones onto the stage to participate playing tambourines with the band,” said organizer Cheryl Butera.

During the band’s breaks, Amy Roush’s Dance Shop Studio dancers will perform as will Margaret Nucci with her friends from “Dance like a Star with Serge” professional dance teacher Sergy Komar.

Added several years ago is the classic car cruise coordinated by Albert McFadyen, Dennis Ketch, and Tim Adamson. There is no fee to participate. Cars will line up on Hinman Street. New this year is a tour group of the International Station Wagon Club who will be bringing 15 classic station wagons.

Also returning is Niagara Clown Alley’s Corabelle and Donuts D.Clown who will be doing face painting and balloon animals.

Nick Conde will be bringing back his bounce house with slides and basketball nets and Lakeside Quarter Horses will also be offering pony rides. There will also be a small petting zoo as well as baked goods to raise money for the 4-H club.

The dance includes “A Taste of Youngstown” with The Youngstown Galley and Mangia Cakes Ice Cream, The Mug and Musket, The Youngstown Diner, The Ontario House aka Jug, and Sanger Farms. The Youngstown Lions again this year will be giving away free popcorn and Anchor Spirits will be giving away their beach balls.

Vendors will offer a variety of goods and there is no fee for nonprofit organizations.

Also on display will be one of Niagara Jet Adventures jet boats, the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Company will have their new ambulance and fire truck on display as well as the fire company’s new Tahoe. Even the Youngstown police will have their vehicles available to see both for security purposes as well as to show their support of this family friendly event.

The Youngstown Business and Professional Association will have a display table for information sharing as well as a 50/50 split with the winner announced at evening’s end.

Vendor applications are still available by contacting Catherine Stella (street vendor and food coordinator) at 745-9938 or Cheryl and Mark Butera at 745-7989. This is an alcohol free/family friendly event but local businesses will be open for adult beverages.

This is a rain or shine event but should there be rain, the event will relocate into the gymnasium of the community center on Lockport Street.
