LOCKPORT — The Buffalo Jazz Composers Workshop will perform an evening of new works and original compositions on Saturday as part of the Jazz at the Taylor series.

Founded by saxophonist Kelly Bucheger, this super-group features some of the finest and most celebrated musicians and educators in the region: Tim Clarke, trumpet; Nelson Rivera, saxophones and percussion; Jared Tinkham, guitar; Alec Dube, vibraphone; Joseph Goehle on bass; and John Bacon on drums. This one-night-only concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Taylor Theater, which seats 153 patrons, was nominated as Best Jazz Venue in the fifth annual Jazz Buffalo Poll. Bucheger, who has performed many times at the Taylor, has great things to say about the venue. “The Taylor Theater is my favorite new space for jazz in Western New York — a beautiful, intimate and inspiring setting with great sound. A real gem!”

Individual tickets for the show are $15 for Kenan Center members and $20 for the general public, and may be purchased online at Ticketleap, in person at the Kenan Center Business Office, or charged by phone. Ample free parking is available onsite.

The Taylor Theater is located adjacent to the Kenan house at 433 Locust St. in Lockport. For further information, visit www.kenancenter.org or call 433-2617. Because seating is limited, advance tickets are recommended.
