For only the second time in its 72-year history, the Niagara Arts Guild, one of the oldest art groups in Western New York, will hold a group exhibition from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Kenan Center’s Taylor Theater, 433 Locust St., Lockport.
The show will serve as a fundraiser for the group, which was formed in 1948 with members from Niagara, Erie and the surrounding counties. The event is free to attend.
“The show will include a variety of works for view and sale all done by the members of the Niagara Arts Guild,” NAG President Kimberly Christy said. “Attendees can enjoy pieces of various artistic styles and mediums. Fundraising basket raffle and refreshments available.”
Guild members will show their latest landscapes, mixed media and abstract works, as well as sculptures. Most works will be for sale at the event, as well as prints and other works of art. Proceeds directly support the artists and the guild. Works will be on display inside the Taylor Theater Meeting Room, an open community space for exhibitions, meetings and workshops.
“We are excited to partner with NAG on this event, while filling the Taylor Theater space with local artwork,” said Parrish Gibbons Herzog, PR & Marketing at the Kenan Center. “The Kenan Center Campus is a space for our community to engage, learn and play. These collaborations with local groups exemplify that mission.”
The NAG meets the third Friday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Dale Association, 33 Ontario St., Lockport (except July and August). Presentations and demonstrations on a variety of art-related topics are part of each month's meeting along with refreshments and a time to network with other members. Guests are always welcome.
