The wait is over. The City of North Tonawanda is now in business with Concerts Plus of WNY, Inc. in bringing concerts back to Gateway Harbor Park this summer.

The North Tonawanda Common Council unanimously authorized Mayor Larry Soos to sign a lease agreement for at least eight Saturday concert dates per year, for a term of three years.

Canal Fest board President Larry Denef is working with Concerts Plus of WNY. Concert attendees can expect the same quality of bands as always, Denef said.

“We’re looking at the same caliber of bands that have been there in the past,” Denef said.

Though Denef didn’t speak of specific bands, he suggested the concerts could bring classic rock acts, in addition to blues and modern rock acts.

The promoters are a conglomeration that made an official proposal to the city under the name of Backstage Productions, Denef said.
