A local non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Western New York children has honored one of Niagara County’s top public administrators for his work in assisting its efforts.
Representatives from Every Person Influences Children, or EPIC, earlier this week celebrated its “heroes” as part of its annual awards gala held in Buffalo.
During the event, organizers presented Niagara County Social Services Director Burt Marshall with the Robert M. Bennett Award for Service to the Community. The award, which is named in honor of Bennett, a New York State Board of Regents Chancellor Emeritus, is presented to individuals tied to EPIC who demonstrate a strong commitment to service in the Western New York area.
EPIC works to ensure that children of all backgrounds are raised and nurtured to become responsible and capable adults. The organization provides year-round programming in parenting education, including Ready, Set, Parent!, Families in Transition and Just for Teens; family engagement. It also encourages early literacy and building parents’ capacity to be more actively involved in their children’s education and character education.
