Police sig

Falls police were called to the 1800 block of South Avenue Tuesday night for a report of a man shot in the hand and leg.

When officers arrived, about 10:30 p.m., a Pontiac sedan was parked in the street, blocking traffic. Blood was found all over   the inside of the vehicle. Several bullet holes were found in the passenger-side of the car.

Officers followed a blood trail to the front porch of a nearby home and a man exited the residence with his right hand wrapped in a blue sweater. The officer said it appeared the 28-year-old man had one or two gunshot wounds.

The victim then pulled up his left pant leg to show off another gunshot wound, just above his left knee.

The victim said he was dropping something off at a home in the 2000 block of LaSalle Avenue and when he got back into his   car, noticed a shadow approaching on the passenger side and then heard several shots and felt pain in his hand and leg.

Scared for his life, he drove from the area to South Avenue.

An investigation is continuing.
