Niagara Falls may have another 100 hotel rooms soon.
The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency expects to receive an application for assistance for consideration from hotelier Ali Rizek, who intends to build a Comfort Inn on an empty lot at 6115 Niagara Falls Blvd. at their monthly meeting this morning.
The Rizek family owns the Econoldge next door and has been in the hotel business for more than 30 years, according to a press release from the agency.
Rizek did not return calls for comment by the time the paper went to press.
Also on the agenda is a vote on the application for assistance it received from Merani Holdings LLC. The company is looking for tax breaks on the construction of a 7,800 sq. ft. restaurant, which company representatives say will be an unnamed chain, to go up next to the Holiday Inn that the company owns on Buffalo Avenue.
The project, which may also contain retail space, will cost approximately $1.4 million and will create 30 new jobs at an annual payroll of $525,000, according to the press release.
The restaurant is part of a larger expansion project, which includes a new lobby and guest rooms. The company received $1.1 million in assistance from USA Niagara Development Corps. for that expansion project, which is projected to cost a total of $3.8 million.
