Niagara Falls firefighters were called early Wednesday to battle a blaze inside a structure in the 600 block of 15th Street.

Niagara Falls Fire Chief Joe Pedulla said crews arrived at the scene around 1:30 a.m. to heavy flames engulfing the entire front of the building. Firefighters used the deck gun to knock down the bulk of the fire in the front before attempting to make entry into the building. Once inside, they encountered holes in the floor and missing stairs to the upper floors, officials said. The fire extended into the roof and crews began defensive operations.

Pedulla said the structure was vacant and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
