A pair of suspects were arrested Wednesday evening in the Town of Tonawanda after a robbery at a gas station in North Tonawanda.

Justin R. Jenkins, 46, and Heather M. Jenkins, 45, both of 51 Ritchie St., Town of Tonawanda, were charged with second-degree robbery, with Justin Jenkins also being charged with second-degree menacing and petit larceny. They were arrested around 10:17 p.m. Wednesday after being encountered by town police officers.

According to the North Tonawanda Police Department, the robbery occurred around 7:38 p.m. Wednesday at the Gulf Mart at 139 Main St.

Police said in a press release issued Thursday morning that a male suspect entered the store wearing a black mask and brandishing a handgun, using it to threaten the store clerk while demanding money. They said the clerk turned over an unspecified amount of cash to the suspect, who then fled on foot.

Officers were able to develop a report about a vehicle that had possibly been involved in the robbery. The NTPD says that the pair were arrested near their Ritchie Avenue home.

Heather Jenkins was arraigned in North Tonawanda City Court on Thursday morning before City Court Judge Shawn Nickerson and was expected back Thursday afternoon for a public defender application. Justin Jenkins was still awaiting arraignment as of late Thursday morning.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
