Falls Police recovered two small children, who were briefly kidnapped Monday afternoon after they were left in an unlocked and running vehicle by a parent.
Police said the children ages 1 and 6 had been left in a blue Jeep around 3:30 p.m. when a parent parked the car and left it running while they went into a store on Pine Avenue.
A male suspect hopped into the SUV and drove off before realizing that the children were in the vehicle. Officers said he stopped a short distance away from the theft and took the children out, placing them on a median, once again driving away.
Police found the children moments later. Officers said neither child appeared to be injured as a result of the incident.
The search for the vehicle and suspect continued until around 5 p.m., when Buffalo police stopped a Jeep that matched the description of the stolen vehicle. Officers said two males suspects fled from the Jeep at that time.
