The North Tonawanda Police Department has made an arrest in an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday at the 7-Eleven at 492 Oliver St.
Christopher Lindsey, 30, from Peoria, Illinois was arrested on Thursday following an investigation by the NT detectives, which was led by Det. Lt Daryl Truty and Detective Daniel Wilczek.
At the time of the robbery and his arrest, Lindsey had been staying with friends at an apartment on Oliver Street where a search warrant was executed. Items discovered during the execution of the search warrant, including the gun, linked Lindsey to the robbery and other local robberies in the Western New York area. This evidence along with other evidence developed during the investigation led to Lindsey confessing to a string of robberies.
The gun that was recovered is a replica Walther PPK BB gun pistol. This pistol had the look and feel of a genuine Walther PPK pistol.
Collaboration between the North Tonawanda Police Department, Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police and Cheektowaga Police Department will assist in the closing of several robberies in both Niagara and Erie counties, NT police said in a release.
Lindsey was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree criminal use of a firearm.
