Niagara Falls Police officials have announced that they have arrested Michael Ciskiewic.
Police officials are expected to discuss the details of the arrest at an 8:15 p.m. press conference.
The 25-year-old was being sought by federal and state authorities in a suspected assault of a woman who was then chained up in the basement of a Monroe Avenue house.
Niagara Falls Police Superintendent Thomas Licata said Monday afternoon the U.S. Marshals Service were enlisted to assist in locating Michael Ciskiewic, 25, of Niagara Falls.
"We’re running down any lead we can relate to him," Licata said.
Police have been unable to determine a motive, the superintendent said. Initial inquiries into the matter indicate the suspect had no apparent relationship to the victim, he added.
"He may have done some yard work for her," Licata said.
