Falls police are investigating a Monday night shooting on the 3300 block of Ninth Street.
An officer reported that a call came in for shots fired on the block about 11:15 p.m. Monday and while heading to the scene, they spotted a speeding car run a red light at Pine and Portage and turn on to Walnut Avenue, toward Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
Suspecting that a shooting victim could be in the car, the officer followed and arrived as medical staff were assisting a 24-year-old Falls man out of the car that had been shot in the right arm.
The man said he had been at a party on the street when he heard gunshots and began running. The man said he didn’t know who had shot him and cut short the interview with police.
The woman that drove the man to the hospital told police she heard several “pop” sounds and saw two men in black clothing holding what appeared to be semi-automatic handguns.
While on the scene of the shooting, investigators were approached by a resident who told them one of the bullets had gone through a wall of his home and popped an air mattress.
