Niagara County Sherif’s deputies were called to a Mapleton Road home about 3 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a man who had fallen down a flight of stairs and was bleeding and unconscious.
When deputies arrived they found the 60-year-old man unconscious at the base of the staircase, near the front door of the home. He had fallen down about 13 stairs and was bleeding from the head.
As fire EMS personnel arrived, the man regained consciousness but was confused and highly agitated with on-scene volunteers. He was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
Deputies noted he was unable to relate how far down the stairs he’d fallen.
