A 9-year-old girl and her 10-year-old brother were injured Monday afternoon after being struck by a car on Pine Avenue near 26th Street.
Falls police were called to the 2600 block of Pine Avenue about 3:45 p.m. for the accident. The children were crossing Pine Avenue north from the area of 26th Street when they were struck by a westbound 2008 Chrysler Town and Country driven by a 79-year-old woman from Pennsylvania. After being hit, the girl struck an eastbound vehicle that had stopped to let the children cross the street. The boy was thrown a short distance down the street.
Niagara Falls firefighters and Rural Metro and Mercy ambulance responded to treat the children and transport them to Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo. Police said their injuries did not appear life-threatening but they were being kept at the hospital overnight for observation.
The accident is currently being investigated.
