The 1954 LaSalle High School football team that won the Niagara Frontier League championship will be honored at the Niagara Falls City School District Hall of Fame induction dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Como Restaurant .

Also being inducted will be former Trott Vocational star Frank Accardo and Niagara Falls High School graduate Jeff Trunzo.

The 1954 LaSalle gridders went undefeated with impressive wins over reigning champion Kenmore and a come-from-behind victory over Lockport.

Accardo, a 1944 graduate of Trott, was the leading rusher on the football team in his junior and senior years. He also led the team in scoring both seasons.

In basketball, Accardo was a second-team all-league selection as a junior and a first-team honoree as a senior. Accardo went on to play football at Niagara University and for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Trunzo, a 1971 graduate of Niagara Falls High School, earned all-state honors in football for the Power Cats. He was also a standout in track and field, setting a Western New York record for the shot put.

Trunzo went on to star in football and track at Colgate University, winning six state championships during his career.
