Mr. Thomas P. Brittain, age 84, of Griffin, GA, passed away Friday, July 25, 2008 at Spalding Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Brittain was born May 21, 1924 in Wyoming, PA, son of the late Merritt R. and Sadie Phillips Brittain. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII and was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Sebring, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, R. Ilene Bohn Brittain; brothers, Lucene and Merritt Brittain; sister, Amanda Brittain.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Walter Wake of Rex, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Mary Brittain of Griffin, GA; grandchildren, Michele and Jean Verrier, Eric and Heather Wake, Jeffrey Brittain, Jared Brittain; sisters, Ruth Chupka of Wyoming, PA; brother, Arthur Brittain of California; several nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Brittain were held on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of First United Methodist Church in Griffin, GA. Rev. Kevin Lobello officiated. The family suggests that flowers be omitted and donations be made to the Alzheimers Foundation of America, 322-8th Ave., 7th floor, New York, NY 10001 in memory of Mr. Brittain.

Haisten McCullough Funeral Home, 1155 Everee Inn Rd., Griffin, GA is in charge of arrangements.
