After a courageous 6 1/2 year battle with cancer, Ronald A. Weaver of Lockport, NY, passed away under the loving care of his wife and Hospice, and went home to be with the Lord on February 8, 2009. Born on April 13, 1945, in Lockport, NY, he was the son of the late Alfred and Ruth (Vorholzer) Weaver.

He married the former Carrie Anderson Neal on March 17, 1990. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Ronald J. (Lori) Weaver, Rita Goodman, Jedediah Weaver, Melinda Weaver, Kyle (Angela) Neal and Joshua Neal, all of Lockport; his grandchildren, Timothy, Bradley and Samantha Weaver, Joseph Goodman and Leah Neal; eight siblings, Richard (Valee) Weaver of Phoenix, AZ, Sandra (Ernest) Haskins, Alfred (Mary Lou) Weaver, Donald (Bonnie) Weaver, all of Lockport, Dawn (Eric) Wagner of Williamsville, Daniel Weaver of Salt Lake City, UT, Kathy (Michael) Kimsky of Newport, NY and Laura Soles of North Tonawanda. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Ron worked for Western Block in Lockport until it closed in 1984. Following that, he worked as a manager for Domino’s Pizza in Lockport and in Elkhart, IN. After he returned from Indiana in 1991, he worked as a residential electrician alongside his father and brother, eventually starting his own electrical business, as well as working in the electrical department of Home Depot, until he retired in 2001 due to illness.

Throughout his life, Ron had a strong commitment to giving back to his community. He was a past member of the Middleport Fire Department and Tri-Town Ambulance Company. He was involved in scouting during his children's youth and in recent years, he actively participated in Relay for Life in New York and Arkansas volunteering his time in fundraising efforts for his teams, and participating in local events.

He enjoyed camping, Country music and woodworking, but his greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and friends.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, February 14th from 2-4, 7-9 PM at The Rutland Corwin Funeral Home, 2670 Main St., Newfane. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 15th at the Middleport United Methodist Church, 9 Park Ave., Middleport at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Middleport United Methodist Church or to Niagara Hospice.
