Marquis A. Smith, of 73rd Street, Niagara Falls, died on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at home. He was 85.

He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on July 13, 1922, a son of the late Raymond and Janet (Maines) Smith. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in December 1943.

Mr. Smith was employed as a millwright and welder by Chisholm Ryder, the Carborundum Company and Airco Speer. He retired in 1974. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan I. Smith and Debra M. Smith, both of Niagara Falls and a sister, Isabel Norbury of Fairfield, TX. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Smith in 1993.

Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue. Funeral services will be held Monday 11 AM in the First United Methodist Church, 8210 Buffalo Avenue. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.
