LaRue K. Armer, age 101, a longtime resident of the Parkway Condominiums, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at the Schoellkopf Health Center, Niagara Falls, NY. She was born in Carroll County, Maryland on August 27, 1906, the daughter of William R. and Della [Murdock] Bowman.

The Bowman family moved their family business to Olean , NY, while LaRue was still a child. She completed her high school education and business school in that city. While a resident in Olean she met and married Richard W. Armer. The couple relocated to Niagara Falls in the early 1940's. Mr. Armer died in 1969. Mrs. Armer had a 28 years career with the Niagara County Saving Bank, where she began as a teller, advancing to bookkeeper and retiring in 1971 as Supervisor of the Mortgage Accounting Department. She was a faithful and active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, serving as treasurer of the Evening Guild and as the "permanent cashier" for all fundraising and outreach projects. She was also a willing assistant to the parish secretary. In her retirement Mrs. Armer volunteered many hours to the American Red Cross in their blood bank program. She enjoyed traveling with her husband making regular visits to Cape Cod and to the southern states. Throughout LaRue's long life she sought out and enjoyed the company of others. She will be remembered for her friendly, considerate manner and and quick wit.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother Russell S. Bowman and by a nephew Russell S. Bowman, Jr.

She is survived by one nephew William (Shirley) Bowman of Fayetteville, GA, also several great nieces, nephews and close and dear friends.

The family will be present at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 140 Rainbow Blvd, Niagara Falls, NY, on Thursday from 10-11:00 AM, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Patrick J. Bradley officiating.

Memorials may be made in her name to St. Peter's Episcopal Church Endowment Fund or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094. Interment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
