(Albion) - John Scurry, Jr., “Babe”, age 50, died April 13, 2009 at his home, following a long illness. He was born in Albion, May 31, 1958, the son of the late John Scurry and Sarah L. Scurry of Monticello, FL.

After high school, John worked at General Electric in Brockport until the plant closed. He applied for and received a job as a mechanic for Vision Ford and had worked there for 20 years. John was a loving father of two teenagers and loved to watch football on his big screen TV. He also loved playing the board game, Scrabble with his niece, Tunesia. He also took great joy in watching his son play football.

Having been called home, he is survived by his son, John Scurry III of Albion; his daughter, Jasmine Jean Louise Scurry of Albion; mother, Sarah Louise Scurry of Albion; sisters, Linda Diane Scurry of Albion, DeLois Scurry of Albion; brothers, Milton Eugene Scurry of Albion, Stanley Davis of Albion; cousin, Rev. Freddie Gardner of Kendall; nephew, Cedric Tyrone Johnson of Albion; niece, Tunisia Audrennette Scurry of North Carolina; great-niece, Chantee’ Paige Johnson of Albion and a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, FRIDAY 7-9 PM. Family and friends are invited to attend John’s funeral service SATURDAY 1 PM in the Royal Church of God in Christ. Interment will be private in Mt. Albion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
