Jerry Guy Canada, Sr. died February 24, 2008. He was born September 22, 1942 in Niagara Falls to Harold W. Canada and Mary Jane (Swalwell) Holleran.

Jerry was a Marine Corp veteran, rifle sharpshooter and pistol marksman and served in the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked at GM Harrison Radiator for 32 years. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Buffalo Bills’ fan. He was a member of numerous organizations including the Buff Social Club (NF), the LaSalle Sportsman Club, the Marine Corp League Devil Dogs (Lockport), the Elks Lodge #346 (NF and Sarasota, FL), the American Legion Post 1142 (NF) and the Moose Lodge 584 (Lewiston).

He loved making the world’s best spaghetti sauce, gatherings with family and telling stories about anything and everything. He enjoyed bowling, camping, country music and Elvis. His fondness of the water and sun took him often to the beaches of Sarasota, FL, but his devotion to his family always brought him home to Niagara Falls.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Kathleen (Brosius); children, Jerry Jr. (Liz), Shaun, Keith (Lisa), all of Niagara Falls, Nicole (Michael McConnaghy) of Bradenton, FL; his nine grandchildren, Michael, Kayleigh, Courtney, Andrew and Matthew Canada, Meghan and Ryan McConnaghy and Enrico and Marcardo McDowell. Also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald Brosius of West Virginia, Larry and Teresa Brosius of Ransomville, John Brosius of Niagara Falls, Allen Brosius of Niagara Falls, Karen and Gerry Grose, Niagara Falls, Barb Brosius and Hans Hauri of Florida and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joan Canada.

Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4, 6-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM, with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Grove officiating. The interment will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston.
