Bank of America set to reopen

The Bank of America on Third Street will reopen today with normal operating hours.

“It took a couple of days to get it repaired,” said Ernesto Anguilla, a Bank of America spokesperson. “Everything’s back to normal now.”

The bank was condemned for occupancy by the city’s Building Inspection Department after a heavy wind and snow storm blew its roof off and caused damage to its back walls.



Salvation Army offers GED and golf classes

The Salvation Army is offering GED classes from 8 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday and from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday free of charge at its family center, 7018 Buffalo Ave.

Students will work one-on-one with an instructor, and material will be covered at the student’s pace. Students can attend as few or as many classes as needed.

The Salvation Army also is offering golf lessons to adults and seniors from 11 a.m. to noon Thursdays beginning Thursday through April 24. Instructor will be Gazette golf columnist Ken Ruggiero. Cost is $20 and you must register by calling 283-7697.

Behavioral health support sought

Staff the union representing workers within Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center’s behavioral health units are asking concerned parties to attend tonight’s meeting of the Niagara County Legislature and voice their support.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Niagara County Courthouse, 175 Hawley St., Lockport.
