Grant W. Cary, of Niagara Falls, died on Sunday, February 1, 2009 in Fairchild Manor Nursing Home. He was 74.

He was born in Dalton, PA, on November 17, 1934, a son of the late John and Viola (White) Cary. He attended Pennsylvania schools. He served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Cary worked for E.I. DuPont as a welder for 23 years, retiring in 1999 as Master Welder. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his various crops with family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and league bowling. He was a 30 year member of the LaSalle Sportsman Club.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Emily (Mayo) Cary; a daughter, Marla Wilson (Scott) of Ransomville; three step-children, Dianna Borkenhagen of Niagara Falls, John Schweitzer of Ransomville, Helene Spina of Ransomville; two granddaughters; six step-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Williams of Arizona and Blanche DeRemer of Florida; three nephews locally, Ed Freeman, Floyd Freeman and Cary Freeman; and several nieces and nephews out of state. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Joyce Walthers, John Cary, Ida Mae Freeman and Everett Cary.

Friends may call Wednesday from 3-6 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 6 PM. The interment will be private.
