Floyd Ervin Seward, age 85, of Gasport, entered into rest on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Absolut in Gasport. Born September 15, 1922 in Gasport, he was the son of the late Lee E. and Mildred (Carpenter) Seward.

Floyd graduated from Barker Central School in 1941. He then attended Chown Business School in Buffalo where he received his business degree. He married Helen Bowers June 28, 1947 at Barker United Methodist Church. They had been married 60 years. He had worked at CJ Perry and Sons in Gasport, retiring in 1987 after being there for 39 years. Prior to Perry’s he worked at Harrison Radiator for six years in personnel. He had also worked at United Frontier Mutual in Lockport, as an agent, from 1954 until 2004. He was an active member of the Hartland United Methodist Church, holding many different offices. He belonged to the Men’s Club, the Gasport Masonic Lodge #787, holding the office of Chaplin, and was also Past Master. He was President of the Hartland Historical Society and a volunteer for the Red Cross. Floyd was also an active board member of the Hartland Central Cemetery Association.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Seward. Dear father of Susan (William) Harrod of Gasport and Thomas (Dorothy) Seward of Barker. Grandfather of Shannon Schultz, Michael Colley, Jr., Benjamin Seward, Megan Seward, Bailey Seward. Great-grandfather of Lauren, Nicholas, Zackery, Madelyn and Reilly. Brother of the late Arda Mandaville and Roger Seward. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Godfather of Julian Ellis and Daniel Welch.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Hartland United Methodist Church, 8019 Ridge Road, Gasport on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Wayne M. West officiating. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials appreciated to Hartland United Methodist Church in Floyd's name.
