Charles Rotko, 92, of 61st Street, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in Schoellkopf Health Care Center. Mr. Rotko was born September 20, 1916 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended schools in Pennsylvania prior to moving here in the late 1940’s.

He served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. He was employed as a chemical operator for 35 years, prior to retiring in 1978. He had also worked at Republic Steel and DuPont. He enjoyed restoring cars and trucks, gardening and traveling out west to Texas and Arizona. In the 1930’s, he worked on the Hoover Dam.

He was the husband of the late Stella (Polonski) Rotko. He is survived by two sons, David C. (Verna) Rotko of Carrollton, Texas and John F. (Georgina) Rotko of Mission, Texas; a daughter, Vanya M. (Robert) Lewis of Niagara Falls; a sister, Sonya Parvu of Sherrill, NY; a brother, Frank Rotko of North Tonawanda; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Sadie Buicke.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Sunday in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 AM. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton.
