Loving Mother, Grandmother and Aunt
Carmelina 'Carmela' (Constantino) Spatorico, 91 of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Friday February 15, 2008 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Concetta Constantino.
Carmela was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1933. On November 27, 1935, she married Joseph F. Spatorico in St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. Mr. Spatorico predeceased her on August 27, 1977. Carmela was employed as a research librarian for eight years at Olin Matheson, and seventeen years at N.L. Industries later known as TAM Industries both in Niagara Falls, until her retirement in 1976.
Carmela was an avid reader. Most notably, she was famous for her homemade pizzeles that she baked daily for many years, generously giving them to her many family, friends and people from all walks of life. Following her retirement, Carmela made ten trips to Italy, and also traveled the world visiting her son Rev. Joseph S. Spatorico where he was stationed as Chaplain in the United States Navy. Carmela was later honored by the United States Navy and Marines, receiving several awards in recognition of her volunteer work and cookie baking.
Mrs. Spatorico is survived by her son, Salvatore B. (Patricia) Spatorico of Niagara Falls, NY, and was predeceased by one son, Rev. Joseph S. Spatorico, and infant daughter Jean Spatorico. She is also survived by her two grandsons: Joseph (Maryann) Spatorico of Niagara Falls, NY, Michael Spatorico of Roanoke Rapids, NC; three great-grandchildren: Victor, Karissa and Tabitha, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Josephine Rua and Jennie Beck, and one brother, Benedict Constantino.
There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday February 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church 1413 Pine Avenue Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert J. Hora officiating. Interment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to St. Joseph's Church 1413 Pine Avenue Niagara Falls, NY 14301.
