Fundraiser for Phillips planned

A benefit for Elain Phillips of Niagara Falls, who was recently diagnosed with Urethral Adenocarcinoma, will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Buff Social Club, 2565 Young St. Food, pop, music by DJ Timmy and raffles 50/50 Splits will be featured. Free cancer screenings available

The Healthy Living Partnership of Niagara County offers free breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings to individuals who have limited or no health insurance.

Mammograms are available to women who are 40 years old and older or under the age of 40 who are at high risk for breast cancer. Clinical breast exams, pap smears and pelvic exams are available to women 18 years and older. Women who are 19 to 26 years old can also get free Gardisil (HPV) vaccinations. Also available for men and women 50 years old and older are free fecal occult blood test kits and colonoscopies.

WHEATFIELD

Hearing tonight on health care

Niagara County leaders will hold another public hearing on health care at 7 p.m. today in the Wheatfield Community Center, 2790 Church Road.

Niagara Organizing Alliance for Hope, or NOAH, is hosting the forum along with the Town of Wheatfield and the Wheatfield Business Association. Among those scheduled to attend are lawmakers, business and union leaders, as well as hospital, insurance and pharmaceutical representatives.
