Staff Reports
Niagara Gazette

STATE PARK

Holy vehicle visit, Batman!

The Bat-Pod and the Batmobile — nicknamed the Tumbler — from the current Batman films will be on display from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Terrapin Point on Goat Island.

The Bat vehicles are currently on a 14-city North American tour to help promote the current Batman film “The DarK Knight” which opens later this month.

In addition, Moses Paskowitz, a vehicle technician, will be on hand to discuss the criime-fighting craft.

NIAGARA FALLS

Impact funding cut for city

The city is receiving $337,000 in Operation Impact funding for 2008-09 compared to the $450,962 it received for its 2007-08 budget. It’s a 25 percent cut in funding.

The state reduced (overall) funding for the program from $17 million to $16.6 million this year, according to Falls police Superintendent John Chella, and had asked the city to cut back on its request.

Look for a full story on Operation Impact funding in this week’s Gazette.
