Jr. Sabres fall in OT at Showcase

Niagara Gazette — The Buffalo Junior Sabres committed a costly penalty in overtime that resulted in a successful game-winning penalty shot, as the Mississauga Chargers downed the Jr. Sabres, 5-4, at the Ontario Junior Hockey League Governor's Showcase in Oakville, Ontario.

Ryan Hunter scored the game-winning goal for Mississauga, who handed Buffalo (4-1, one OT loss) only their second loss of the season.

Nick Smith of North Tonawanda scored on a third period power play goal that momentarily put the Jr. Sabres ahead, 4-3. Mason Evans, Nick DeSimone and Darren McCormick had two points each.

The Jr. Sabres host the Georgetown Raiders Monday evening at the Northtown Center at Amherst beginning at 7:30 p.m.
