Niagara Gazette — Lockport returns to action today at the annual Starpoint Tournament.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Nia.-Wheatfield 3, Niagara Falls 0

Sam Mattheus had eight kills for Nia.-Wheatfield, who took every set against Niagara Falls on Saturday.

North Tonawanda 3, Ken East 0

Donovon Book led the Lumberjacks’ (1-1 NFL) attack with a team-high 12 kills and four blocks. Mike Awad added seven kills and three blocks in the victory.

Lockport 3, Ken West 0

Lockport earned a straight-set match victory on Friday night on the strength of the jump serving of Bryce Perry and Brad Schneider.

The starting six for the Lions was in complete control of Game 1. In games two and three the other members of the varsity squad earned valuable court experience closing the match.

The Lions moved to 2-0 in league play, and 5-2 overall.  Lockport host the Vikings of Grand Island on Monday in the Lion’s den, followed by a visit to #1 in WNY St Joe’s on Friday.

St. Joes 3, Starpoint 0

Joe Koszelak had 32 assists as the Marauders downed the Spartans.

BOYS SOCCER 

Williamsville South 1, Starpoint 0

Starpoint’s goalie Sam Del Prince made eight saves in the team’s loss. Midfielder Ryan Schupp and defender Drew Howard played well for the Spartans.

GIRLS SOCCER

Wilson 3, Akron 1

Katlynne Tubo notched 15 saves for Wilson (6-0) including two breakaway stops. Kayla Newmann, Holly Rudolph and Lauren Austin each had a goal for the Lake Women

Ken West 3, Ken East 0

Goalkeeper Hannah Post led the Blue Devils (1-3 NFL) to their first shutout in league play in net as Grace Ferguson helped facilitate the offense with two assists.
