Hoecker wins WNY Senior PGA title; nationals next

Niagara Gazette — Jon Hoecker of Brook-Lea Country Club will be among four Section PGA Professionals heading to Virginia next month to compete in the 25th Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship.

Hoecker will do so as the winner of the Western New York Senior PGA Professional Championship, which wrapped up Friday at Lawrence Park Golf Club in Erie, Pa. He finished the tournament shooting an overall 6-under-par 138. His nearest challenger was Kirk Stauffer of Pine Acres CC, which finished three strokes behind.

Hoecker and Stauffer will be joined by Rob Horak (Ravenwood GC) and Mark Kirk (Crag Burn GC) at the National Championship, which will be held October 10-13 at Creighton Farms of Aldie, Va., and River Creek Club of Leesburg, Va.

In other regional championship results, Jerry Coleman shot an overall 148 to win the Super Senior Division by nine strokes over Paul Riccio. Stan Marshaus won the Classic Senior division by one stroke over Ed Pfister with an 18-hole total of 80.
