Niagara Gazette — The Buffalo Bills have thinned their ranks at quarterback by one. The team announced in a one-line statement Monday night that they have released quarterback Tarvaris Jackson.

Jackson, acquired by the Bills in 2012 from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a conditional draft pick, was never activated to play that season, but was then re-signed to a one-year deal in 2013.

With the Bills drafting quarterback E.J. Manuel in the first round of this year's NFL Draft, Jackson became expendable. Manuel and Kevin Kolb, acquired earlier this off-season, will complete for the starter's job.
