Sabres get 8th pick in NHL draft lottery

Niagara Gazette — The Buffalo Sabres, barring any trades, will have the eighth overall pick at the 2013 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

The Colorado Avalanche won the draft lottery on Monday and will have the first pick. The Florida Panthers own the second pick for June's draft, while the Tampa Bay Lightning have the third selection.

Seth Jones, a defenseman with the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks, is the No. 1 ranked North American skater according to the NHL Central Scouting Bureau.

The NHL Entry Draft will he held in Newark, N.J. beginning June 30.
