High school roundup: Starpoint softball remains unbeaten

Niagara Gazette — Ken West 8, Lew-Port 2

James Faso tossed a complete game, allowing two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and Tommy Ryan went 3 for 4 with a double and a pair of runs scored to lead the Blue Devils (5-2, 3-2 NFL) in the league win. Ricky Deiboldt also helped pace the West offense with three runs scored while Tim Stoerr went 1 for 2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Josh Garrison went 2 for 3 with an RBI triple to lead the Lancers (2-3 NFL).

JV

• Dalton Wentz and Robert Newbury each had two hits for Niagara Falls in a 4-3 win over North Tonawanda. Anthony Kahley got the win on the mound for the Wolverines.

• Zach Glaser had two doubles and Angelo Vilardo had a pair of singles to help lift North Tonawanda over Lockport, 7-5.

BOYS LACROSSE

Niagara Falls 8, Riverside 3

The Wolverines (1-4) erupted offensively and Nico Cirrito led the way with four goals. Jake Eschborn and Cody Bielec (five assists) also had a pair of goals, while Anthony Scibilia made 12 saves for NF.

Niagara Wheatfield 18, Will. South 3

Zach Dubuc had four goals and Ryan Koch scored three to lead the Falcons (4-3). Anthony Trintup, Joe Kelly and Zak Connery each had two goals to bolster the Wheatfield attack.

Lake Shore 22, Wilson 8

Justin Westmorland had four goals for the Lakemen (0-6). Zach Mariani and Zach Russel had two goals apiece to round out the Wilson offense.

Eden 17, Lew-Port 4

Jack Tewsley had three goals and Joey Gambino had one for the for the Lancers (3-5).

BOYS TENNIS

Lew-Port 5, Niagara Falls 0

Yash Maheshwari improved to a perfect 6-0 this season in third singles and the Lancers (4-2 NFL) swept the league matchup, taking all five singles and doubles matches. The Wolverines fell to 0-6.

North Tonawanda 5, Nia.-Wheatfield 0

The Lumberjacks (5-0) won all five of their matches over the Falcons (3-3). Brothers Andrew and John LeMar, first and second singles, respectively, each picked up a victory to remain undefeated on the season.
