HS BOYS SOCCER: Bechtold named to All-WNY 1st Team

LOCKPORT — Three Lockport High School boys varsity soccer players earned prestigious All-Western New York honors recently.

Senior sweeper Nate Bechtold, the Union-Sun & Journal Boys Soccer Player of the Year, was named to the All-Western New York First Team. Others on the first team are Andy Tiedt of Akron, Tyler Hamill and J.J. Hughes of Clarence, Kyle Sniatecki of Depew, Eric Steinmetz and Alex Osuch of Iroquois, Josh Hall of Maryvale, Colin Begy and Brian Cianchetti of Williamsville East; and Jimmy Nesper and Tyler Cominsky of Williamsville North.

LHS senior defenseman Dan Greco and senior midfielder MIke Pass were named to the All-WNY Honorable Mention Team.

Bechtold, Greco, Pass and sophomore teammate Matt McCoy were named to the All-Niagara Frontier League First Team. Others on the league’s top all-star team are Sam Kilb of Grand Island, Zach Eoute, Anthony Zito and Ethan Duncan of Lewiston-Porter, Anthony, Troy Weber and Casey Sheehan Johnson of Kenmore East, Nick Doyle, Greg Bennett and Paul LaMancusa of Kenmore West; and Andy Donner of Niagara-Wheatfield.

Lions senior midfielder Evan Breloff and sophomore fullback Jim May were named to the All-NFL Second Team. Earning league Third Team honors from Lockport were sophomore keeper Chris Paradise, junior defenseman Jay Dry and sophomore midfielder Andrew Granchelli.

• Dan Greco: First Team Niagara Frontier League, Third Team All-Western New York

• Mike Pass: First Team Niagara Frontier League, Third Team All-Western New York

• Matt McCoy: First Team Niagara Frontier League

• Evan Breloff: Second Team Niagara Frontier League

• Jim May: Second Team Niagara Frontier League

• Chris Paradise: Third Team Niagara Frontier League

• Jay Dry: Third Team Niagara Frontier League
