LEADING OFF: Don't panic Sabres fans

Paul Gaustad’s contributions to the Buffalo Sabres this season have certainly been meaningful, but not irreplaceable.

The bruising forward will miss the rest of the season with a completely severed tendon in his left ankle. It’s a tough break for Gaustad, a genuinely likable player, but not one the team can’t overcome.

While Daniel Paille may not have the ability to drop the gloves or isn’t quite as skilled in the corners, he’s more than an adequate replacement, capable of bringing energy and perhaps a bit more offense to the lineup.

Add to that the encouraging news about Tim Connolly’s recovery from a concussion and it’s not time to cancel those Stanley Cup parties just yet.
