SABRES: Campbell wears an A

It’s hard to believe, but Buffalo Sabres defenseman Brian Campbell has been part of the organization for nearly 10 years.

Drafted in 1997 at age 17, Campbell has blossomed into one of Buffalo’s leaders. That became more apparent Monday night when he sported an A on his new Sabres jersey, signifying his being named an assistant captain.

“To me it shows the coaches kind of think of me (as a leader),” Campbell said in a story that appeared on the Sabres’ Web site, www.sabres.com.
