SABRES DOSE: Canadiens yet to make offer to Dumont

Sabre fans would like to see J.P. Dumont back in a Buffalo uniform next season, but the team wasn’t willing to pay the $2.9 million set by an arbitrator.

But who will?

According to the Canadian Press, one of the teams expected to be in the running, the Dumont’s hometown Montreal Canadiens, have not made the winger an offer.

“We’ve never had an offer from Montreal,” agent Yves Archambault told the news service Wednesday.

Detroit is considered a front-runner, but many are speculating that Dumont is comfortable in Buffalo and might return for something similar to the $1.596 million he made last year.
