Niagara Gazette — Cody Bielec played a part in all but one of Niagara Falls’ goals as the Wolverines beat the St. Mary’s Lancers 6-4 in Section VI Division III federation hockey Saturday.
Bielec scored twice — including the eventual game-winner — and picked up three assists for NF (7-4-1), which scored twice in each period.
St. Mary’s (3-7-2) Brett Helmbrecht opened the scoring just over five minutes into the game, but Joe Dobmeier answered off a feed from Bielec just over a minute later to tie the game at one. Helmbrecht scored again with 1:22 left in the frame, but Bielec found the back of the net just 15 seconds later. Dobmeier and Alex Hailey picked up the assists.
Billy Good gave St. Mary’s its third lead with 9:00 left in the second, but Hailey scored from Bielec and Nick Lepine 57 seconds later. Bielec gave the Wolverines their first lead with 2:21 left after finishing a play from Hailey and Lepine.
Bielec found Nick Frame to give NF a two-goal advantage with 9:46 left in the third, and Mike Laurrie added an unassisted tally with 3:48 left. Patrick Sisler picked up the win for the Wolverines, who take on first-place Kenmore West at 6:45 Monday at Hyde Park.

Kyle Painter earned a 25-save shutout and Curtis Vivian scored twice and added an assist for the Lumberjacks, who improved to 7-4 in Division III
Niagara Catholic 7, Pioneer/Springville 2
Leo Kane had three goals and two assists and Anthony Coty added two goals and two helpers for the Patriots, who won their second game of the season despite starting with only eight players (and finishing with seven). Brodie Beaver and Jacob Hierl also scored, while Mike Celesto dished three assists. Jacob Augustino made 22 saves to pick up the win. NC is now 2-11.
