Niagara Gazette — LEWISTON — Niagara University softball swept the visiting Manhattan Jaspers in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader that included a no-hitter by one of the Purple Eagles' pitchers.
Tossing the no-hitter was junior Jennifer Sansano, a native of Clarence, who kept the Jasper bats silent while her teammates scored to secure a 5-0 win. It was Sansano's second career no-hitter. Her first came on March 2, 2012 when she was a sophomore at St. Bonaventure. It was also Niagara's first no-no since Julie DiMatteo accomplished the feat against St. Peter's on April 10, 2011.
Becky Zill hit a two-run home run in the third inning then added her second two-run shot in the fourth.  Aileen Hinton hit what would have been a three-run homer but one of the runners was called out for missing a base, thus only one run — the fifth of the game —counted.
In the second game, the Purple Eagles rallied from a 6-2 deficit to defeat Manhattan, 11-6. Senior Alexis Wayne drove in three runs with a double to complete the come-from-behind win.
