N-W downs NFHS in high school wrestling

Niagara Gazette — Four Niagara-Wheatfield wrestlers pinned their Niagara Falls opponents as part of the Falcons’ 46-27 win over the Wolverines on Wednewsday. 

The pins were achieved by Sam Harding, Jason Varnic, Brennan Ferguson and Jake DeWolf. N-W’s Josh Kelly was victorious by a major decision over Archie Palmer DaJuan Jackson of Niagara Falls earned a pin for the Wolverines, defeating the Falcons’ Brett Biro.

In another high school wrestling win of note, Cody McGregor of Tonawanda High School became that school’s winningest wrestler on Wednesday when he defeated Depew’s Brandon Williams in 43 seconds. It was McGregor’s 149th win, breaking the record set by Ryan Mislin back in 2001.
