WNY Flash climb into third with 3-0 win

Niagara Gazette — The Western New York Flash remain unbeaten in their last five matches, and won their fourth game within that streak Saturday night in Piscataway, N.J. with a 3-0 decision over host Sky Blue F.C.

Australian national Samantha Kerr put the Flash ahead in the 4th minute of the game. Carli Lloyd, a veteran of the U.S. women's national team, put the Flash up 2-0 in the 45th minute. Fellow national team veteran and Rochester native Abby Wambach built WNY's lead to 3-0 in the 82nd minute.

The Flash (4 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses) climbed into third place in the National Women's Soccer League with the victory. Sky Blue FC (7-1-2) fell into a first place tie with Portland.

The Flash next travel to the Washington Spirit on Saturday, June 15.
