Niagara Gazette — New Niagara men's basketball coach Chris Casey received his fifth commitment Monday, according to a New York Post reporter.
Zach Braziller, high school sports reporter for the Post, tweeted Monday that Wesley Myers, a 6-foot-1 guard from Boys & Girls High School in Brooklyn, has verbally committed to play at NU.
According to Rivals.com, Myers also had offers from Canisius, Miami (FL), Oklahoma State, Rider, South Carolina and Stony Brook.
ESPN Insider gave him a grade of 69 out of 100 as a two-star recruit as of August 8, 2012.
"Speed. Speed and more speed," wrote an unnamed ESPN analyst. "Matthews looks like he's going to be a player and has a presence at his position. Our first evaluation of him came as a sophomore where he was a part time player for his high school team. Nonetheless, he's a point wtih the ability to push and create shots for teammates. He's got some electricity."
The scouting report also said he'll have to find a way to add to his 150-pound frame while developing a jump shot to realize his potential.
Niagara officials were not available to confirm the signing.
