New Jersey hoops star commits to Niagara

Niagara Gazette — Basketball prospect Aaron Bodie, a 6-foot-7 forward from Hillside, NJ, has committed to Niagara University men's basketball.

Bodie first announced the decision on his personal Twitter account. A Niagara athletics department official later confirmed for the Gazette that Bodie has signed his National Letter of Intent thus verifying his commitment.

Bodie, a 2012 graduate of East Side High School in Newark, played the 2012-13 season with the basketball program at Central Jersey Each One Teach One Academy, or CJEOTO.

"It felt like a comfortable fit, and when I went on my official visit everybody was very enthusiastic and showed passion for their jobs," Bodie said to the Gazette. "I plan on bringing the same effort or more to the table."

Bodie is just one of several anticipated recruits Niagara looks to lock up following three key departures. Over the weekend, T.J. Cline announced his transfer to the University of Richmond. Earlier in the week, Juan'ya Green and Ameen Tanksley both completed transfers from Niagara to Hofstra, where former Purple Eagles coach Joe Mihalich was hired in April.

New Niagara coach Chris Casey was still busy securing other recruits for his new program. The official at Niagara with whom the Gazette spoke indicated Casey will comment on Bodie and other recruits in the near future.
