Sabres place Patrick Kaleta on waivers

The Buffalo Sabres have placed right wing Patrick Kaleta on waivers.

Kaleta was eligible to return to the Sabres lineup after serving a 10-game suspension for a high hit on Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson on Oct. 10.

During his suspension, Kaleta had expressed a desire to change a playing style that's found him suspended or fined six times in his career, including a five-game suspension in March for a hit from behind on Brad Richards of the New York Rangers.

If no other team claims Kaleta on waivers, he will be eligible to report to Buffalo's American Hockey League affiliate in Rochester.
